Doubles Tennis Lessons in Colorado Springs
In doubles, you usually want to keep the ball away from your net player. So if the ball comes high over your head, get it out of there! Your partner will benefit from not having to try and hit a difficult shot up at the net with little time to react.
If you can’t lift the ball consistently in order to pass someone on a doubles court, think of ways that you can deceive your opponent into hitting a weak volley where your partner is waiting. You don’t have much time so subtle changes in pace or spin can be effective for this purpose. Serve and Volley doubles strategies are also beneficial when playing doubles tennis.
You should adopt different doubles strategies than singles strategies when playing doubles tennis because of the differences in play.
For doubles, you need to be ready to move your feet at all times. Pushers are great doubles players because they have quick feet and can get up quickly off the ground. If you like playing doubles but don’t like moving your feet, you should practice doubles tennis footwork as much as possible even though it is not as satisfying or fun as hitting winners.
